A Season of Hope

thrill-of-hopeA thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

It’s my favorite line in my favorite Christmas carol, O Holy Night.

The world was weary when the sweet baby Jesus was born.   The children of Israel had waited long for their prophesied Messiah.  God was silent for 400 years before his birth.

Then, a baby was born in a small Judean town.  Angels heralded the birth and lowly shepherds were the first to visit the newborn king.  Hope was born.

Do you sense that the world is weary today?  I do.  The past year alone has been draining in so many ways;  from the election cycle to terrorist attacks to natural disasters.

But then Christmas comes and we are reminded once again of the hope that came in the form of a holy infant.

Are you weary this Christmas?  Are you in need of some hope?

I encourage you to look to the baby Jesus.  He’s everywhere this time of the year.  Better yet, look to the Savior who is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He is the only one who can provide real hope in this weary world.

Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.   Matthew 7:7

Merry Christmas!
