Yellow Houses

My husband and I are frequent visitors to Anna Maria, a small island community about an hour and a half from our central Florida hometown.  It’s a piece of paradise, a place where we can get away and slow down the pace of our lives.  It’s only  75 miles from home but it may as well be half-way around the world.

One of our favorite things to do is ride our bicycles around the island.  We have been doing it for years. We enjoy riding around looking at the different houses, everything from old Florida cracker houses from the 1940’s to ranch houses from the 1950’s and 1960’s to the more modern Key West style houses.  But, my favorite ones, no matter the style, are the yellow houses.  There is something cheerful about a yellow house, especially when it’s surrounded by a white picket fence.

I created a photo journal of some of the yellow houses on the island.  I thought it would be fun to share it in the midst of winter.  We are about half-way to spring; so, whether you’re living in the snowy north or a more temperate area, take heart!  Spring is coming.

There, isn’t that better now?
